Did you know…The name Daft Punk (the electronic House duo, inspired by The Beach Boys from Paris circa 1992) comes from a review from UK’s Melody Maker which described their first project, Darling, as “a bunch of daft punk.”
Daft Punk is Guy-Manuel de Homem Christo (what a name!) and Thomas Bangalter, whom met while going to school in Paris
Daft Punk eventually signed with Scottish label Soma Records and released several hits.
Did you know…The Foo Fighters got their name from Dave’s sci-fi obsession. Dave heard about fire balls that were following WW2 pilots. The pilots thought the fire balls were German enemy-seeking weapons of some sort, and labeled them “fire fighters” using the French word for fire, which when spelt phonetically is Foo.
Dave also took inspiration from Sci-Fi for the name of his label Roswell Records. Roswell is a town in New Mexico US
