Baptists

Pat's (hardcore) Pub - September 24, 2010
Good things happen when you don't ask too many questions. Like finding yourself at a wicked show that was mentioned in passing, which you wouldn't otherwise have known about.
The Baptists have come together as a result of A Textbook Tragedy breaking up this past Spring after six years together. The drummer, Nick 'Pede' Yacyshyn, is now drummer for the Baptists, and whoa, does he rock out hard. (To be fair, it doesn't take a lot to impress me in the way of musicians, given the formula of talent, energy, guy and instrument. It's a win-win. But, that being said, this guy seriously hits hard.) The vocalist was brilliant, the crowd was insane(ly violent), tattoos everywhere: it was a prime environment for photography... the trick is to keep your camera from being smashed while up at the front trying to get the perfect shot. As for the music, well, it was metal. My vocabulary around describing metal is totally lame, so I'm just going to say that it was aggressive, intense and I'm impressed. I kept finding myself though expecting Dallas Green to jump in mid-scream, Alexisonfire style, which I turned to my friend and commented on. He just shook his head at me and said something along the lines of "you are not going to find Dallas Green here." ...my bad.
Anyways, wicked show. Their next show is unannounced at the moment.

And for the record, yes, I agree, my photos here are a bit on the gray side. But it's growing on me, so I'm not changing it.
